HOUSE G
A mountain House

Location - Har-Adar

Site Area - 680 m²

Built Area - 300 m²

The L-Shaped layout of this single-family house situates itself on a rocky ledge overlooking the Jerusalem mountain slopes. The three-story house was originally designed for a family of five - with future expansion in mind. On the first (street) level, is a fully self-sustained unit – that will later be used by the older kids. The main house consists of two juxtaposed stone masses. The shorter and lower mass is an open-space common area accommodating the kitchen, dining and living functions. Concealed glazed openings in its concrete roof, allow air and light to indirectly flow inside, while the large glazed openings connect to an enclosed exterior terrace. The double-story mass perpendicular to it contains a bedroom wing on the ground floor. All bedrooms share a naturally lit passage, that connects to the common area and the enclosed garden. A sculptural concrete and stone staircase leads up to the master bedroom, with its own intimate balcony – cutaway from the main mass – overlooking the valley below, while exposed to the cool mountain breeze.
