מאז היווסדה בשנות ה-30 של המאה שעברה, שימשה שכונת נווה שאנן בדרום תל-אביב כ"חצר אחורית" ל"עיר הלבנה", הצמודה לה. לצד תושביה הוותיקים, מתגוררים כיום בשכונה פליטים ומהגרי עבודה המשנים את אופייה ומתאימים אותו למסורות ולתרבויות השונות מארצות מוצאם. למרות שהליכה קצרה מובילה מהשכונה המוזנחת לשדרות רוטשילד המטופחת והאריסטוקרטית, ההבדל בין השכונות הוא תהומי. החל מהרכבה הרב-תרבותי של האוכלוסייה, התשתיות העירוניות המדולדלות והשירותים הקהילתיים המצומצמים.

שיתוף פעולה ייחודי עם הפרויקט החברתי הבינלאומי FixPerts, חשף סטודנטים לעיצוב והנדסה לאחת השכונות  המעניינות והמורכבות ביותר בעיר תל-אביב יפו. במשך הפרויקט, הכירו הסטודנטים את המארג האנושי והקהילות השונות בשכונה ויישמו הלכה למעשה את יכולותיהם וכישוריהם דרך פעולות מקומיות של "תיקון" - פתרון בעיות יומיומיות של תושבי השכונה באמצעות עיצוב. בסיום כל "תיקון" הופק סרטון המתעד את הפעילות ומשמש למאגר הידע הבינלאומי של המיזם.

הסדנא התקיימה במסגרת "שבוע מרקחה" במכללת שנקר, בהנחיה משותפת עם יאשה רוזוב ואילן לאור ובהשתתפות סטודנטים ממחלקות שונות.

Since its founding in the 1930s, the Neve Shaanan neighborhood in southern Tel-Aviv has served as a "backyard" for the adjacent “White City". Today, alongside its veteran residents, live refugees and migrant workers, who changed the neighborhood’s character adapting it to their traditions and cultures. Although a short walk leads from the neglected neighborhood to the well-tended and aristocratic Rothschild Boulevard, the difference between the neighborhoods is extreme. The dense multicultural population, the depleted urban infrastructure and the limited community services are difficult to ignore. A unique collaboration with the international social project FixPerts, exposed design and engineering students to one of the most interesting and complex neighborhoods in Tel-Aviv. During the workshop, they interacted with the different communities and implemented their skills through local "fixing" actions - solving daily problems through design. At the end of each encounter a video was produced documenting the activity and joining the international knowledge-base of the FixPerts project.


The workshop was held as part of the "Jamweek" at Shenkar College, in collaboration with Designers Yasha Rozov, Ilan Leor and students from design and engineering faculties.
