בכיכר "טישלר" בשכונת נווה שאנן ניצב בית משאבות ישן שלאחרונה הפך לגלריה עירונית. במסגרת הפריוקט, בחנו הסטודנטים כיצד תכנים,  תנועה ומפגש בכיכר יכולים להזין ולהחיות את חלל הגלריה ולהיפך.  הכיכר, אשר עברה שלב ראשון בשיקום עירוני, כמהה ל"עוגנים" של פעילות חברתית-קהילתית ועומדת שוממה רוב היום. הפרויקט אפשר  מפגש ופעילות עם הקהילות השונות המתגוררות באזור כיכר טישלר והתקיים במלואו בשכונת נווה שאנן,  בכיכר  ובחלל הגלריה.  במהלכו, התוודעו הסטודנטים לעסקים מקומיים,  מאכלים מסורתיים, מלאכת-יד ופולקלור מקומי, וקיימו ראיונות עם תושבי השכונה.  תובנות המחקר וההיכרות עם השכונה ותושביה נותבו לכדי פעולה בכיכר ובגלריה תוך שיתוף התושבים והתערבות בכיכר.

 

הסדנא התקיימה במסגרת "שבוע מרקחה" במכללת שנקר, בשיתוף ספריית גן לוינסקי וגלריית המשאבה, בהנחיה משותפת עם המעצבים יאשה רוזוב ואורלי כהן אלורו ובהשתתפות סטודנטים מפקולטות הנדסה ועיצוב.

An old pump house at Tishler Square in the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood of southern Tel Aviv has been transformed into an urban art gallery. As part of a dynamic workshop, design and engineering students explored how the interplay of content, movement, and convergence in the square can invigorate the gallery space and vice versa. Despite undergoing an initial phase of urban rehabilitation, the square lacks "anchors" for social and communal activities, often remaining empty for most of the day.

The workshop facilitated meaningful engagement with the diverse communities surrounding Tishler Square, allowing students to immerse themselves in the local culture. Activities took place in both the square and the newly established gallery space. Throughout the workshop, students connected with local businesses, experienced traditional cuisine, learned about handicrafts, and delved into local folklore. They also conducted interviews with residents, gathering insights into the neighborhood's rich history and contemporary life.

This experiential research informed a series of interventions designed to enhance Tishler Square and the gallery, fostering greater participation and involvement from the local community. By integrating the voices and perspectives of residents, the project aims to create a vibrant hub for social interaction and artistic expression.

The workshop was held as part of the "JamWeek" at Shenkar College, in collaboration with the Levinsky Garden Library and the Pump Gallery, under the joint direction of Designers Yasha Rozov and Orly Cohen Aloro, with students from design and engineering faculties.
